Road Trip

Early 2021

Artist’s Statement

This collection focuses the road trip my mom sister and I took at the end of 2020. From San Francisco to Yosemite to Arches, the beauty of nature never fails to amaze me. I explored linocuts and printing to focus on technique and the principals and elements of design. I chose to make prints because each one is a bit different from the rest. I’ve conveyed the imperfections and uniqueness of nature. In my multi color pieces, rather than recess carvings, I made individual stamps for each color. Additionally, rather than rolling the ink onto the linoleum, I used q-tips to apply it, which allowed me to do more than one color per stamp as seen one the Seven Magic Mountains print.

All prints are 7.5”by 10”

Munchie & Me

10” by 6.5” watercolor and ink

This piece was very important to me for multiple reasons. For one, I took this picture with my sister on one of the last days of our road trip. Secondly, she leaves for college soon and as a reminder of how much she means to me, she’ll have this. Lastly, this project was my last for advanced studio art (in my sophomore year). This piece wraps up the road trip, the past 16 years I’ve had with my sister, and advanced studio art.
